Thread Lift

Page Updated:

A PDO thread lift can be an excellent treatment option for individuals who aren’t ready for an invasive procedure such as facelift surgery. Thread Lifting offers a non-surgical facelift that utilizes dissolvable monofilament fibers to reposition and lift the skin to define and contour the cheeks, minimize jowls, and tighten the jawline. This minimally-invasive cosmetic treatment is often combined with dermal fillers and other injectables such as Botox to achieve optimal results.

Top Thread Lift Specialists in Menifee and San Marcos

Our clinical team of Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and Physicians Assistants are leading Thread Lift providers. We use NovaThreads for Thread Lift procedures, a next-generation barbed, absorbable PDO thread that is used for biomedical applications and doesn’t cause scar tissue to form. NovaThreads are injected into the skin according to each patient’s unique treatment plan, and the thread stimulates new collagen and elastin production while also holding the skin in its new structure for 12 to 15 months.

What Can Thread Lifts Do?

Contour the cheekbones, jawline, and neck, and increase volume on the face and neck

Lift sagging facial skin on the forehead, browline, under-eye area, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and neck

Smooth skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Offer a non-surgical alternative to a traditional facelift or neck lift

Provide long-lasting, natural-looking results with no downtime, and boost confidence

How Do Thread Lifts Work?

Thread Lifts work by placing NovaThreads into strategic areas through several injections made with local anesthesia. NovaThread needles are pre-loaded with a PDO barbed thread. A practitioner will insert the needle in the subdermal facial tissue, placing the NovaThread parallel to the skin’s surface, and then remove the needle, leaving the PDO thread in place under the skin. The PDO thread will remain in the treated area for 12 to 15 months and then dissolve.

Preparing for Your Thread Lift Procedure

Your Thread Lift will be a quick and non-surgical treatment, so liYour Thread Lift will be a quick and non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment, so little prep is required other than arriving at your appointment with a clean face. You should also avoid blood-thinning medications like Ibuprofen and Aspirin, and alcohol the day before as this can minimize bleeding and reduce the chances of bruising after treatment.1 We recommend scheduling a consultation appointment with us to discuss your cosmetic goals and the best treatment plan to reach them with us. While Thread Lift treatments can have dramatic results on their own, these results can be greatly optimized with other cosmetic treatments such as BOTOX and dermal fillers.

Your Thread Lift Procedure

At your Thread Lift appointment, your provider will confirm that they understand your concerns and review your Thread Lift treatment to ensure it meets your cosmetic goals. Then the areas to be treated with NovaThreads will be thoroughly cleansed by your Thread Lift specialist, and treated with a numbing or  anesthetic cream. The procedure takes 30 minutes or less to perform and the side effects are mild as recovery time is minimal. It takes 4-6 months to fully absorb the barbed sutures as the skin heals/builds collagen.

What to Expect After Your Thread Lift Procedure

Recovery after a Thread Lift treatment is minimal with no downtime needed. You may experience visible bruising and/or swelling, however, it will be mild enough that you can return to work immediately or resume your normal routine. We advise that you avoid vigorously rubbing your face and avoid sleeping on your side as much as possible in the initial weeks following your treatment. It can also be beneficial to stop using moisturizer and to avoid high-intensity workouts and saunas for at least one week following a Thread Lift.2

Thread Lift Results

Thread Lift results will be apparent immediately following placement, but most patients find they improve in the days and weeks following insertion, as bruising and swelling subsides. Results from a Thread Lift are not permanent. Successful treatments generally last 12 to 15 months. Like Botox and dissolvable dermal fillers, the NovaThreads used in your Thread Lift procedure will eventually be absorbed by your tissues.
