Preparation

You may be asked to modify your skincare routine in the weeks leading up to your appointment to avoid skincare products that may affect your skin barrier. Any additional preparation instructions will be provided for you during your consultation.

Procedure

On the day of your appointment, we ask that you arrive with a clean face that is free of any skincare products or makeup residue. Our team will first cleanse your skin before applying a topical anesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout the treatment. The specialist will then pass the SkinPen device over the treatment area. The device will create even, uniform micropunctures to increase your skin’s collagen production. The duration of each treatment session is fairly quick, typically lasting between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the patient’s concerns.

Recovery

After a SkinPen Microneedling treatment, it is normal to experience temporary redness, peeling, and swelling. You may also experience skin tightness or dryness as you heal. These effects are temporary and often resolve on their own within several days. As you heal, you should avoid wearing makeup and refrain from swimming to avoid irritating the treated area. You will also need to wear appropriate sun protection when going out, avoiding direct or unnecessary sun exposure when possible.
