About Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment that can deliver volume beneath the skin to eliminate visible signs of aging, enhance your natural facial sculpt, or highlight specific facial features.
At Before-N-After, we offer Juvéderm as our primary filler.
Juvéderm is a portfolio of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, each with a different formulation to address concerns across various features. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is present in connective tissues, joints, and eyes. This substance binds to water molecules in the skin, enhancing its volume and firmness. (2) Soft tissue fillers, such as Juvéderm, have grown significantly popular in the country over the last several years, with specialists administering more than 5.3 million injections in 2024 alone. Available Types of Fillers
Juvéderm VOLBELLA® XC
Your nurse injector can administer Juvéderm VOLBELLA® XC to enhance the fullness of your lips and address the vertical lip lines found around the mouth. These lines are often referred to as “smoker’s lines,” and they can develop over time as a result of genetics, aging, and repeated lip pursing.
Juvéderm VOLLURE™ XC
Juvéderm VOLLURE™ XC targets moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. These often include smile lines, marionette lines, crow’s feet, and more. This filler features Juvederm’s Vycross® technology, which allows it to last longer and move more naturally, with many patients experiencing effects for up to 18 months.
Juvéderm VOLUMA® XC
Juvéderm VOLUMA® XC lifts and restores volume to the mid-face and cheek area. This filler is one of the thickest in the Juvéderm family, and it combats volume loss and deflation by restoring a more contoured and chiseled look to the mid-face and jawline. This filler is highly durable, with many patients enjoying their results for up to two years.

Candidates
You may be an ideal candidate for dermal fillers if you are looking to reduce or fill wrinkles, creases, folds, fine lines, and other visible signs of aging. Dermal fillers are also highly effective for addressing volume loss or hollowing, as well as to augment certain facial features.
If you are interested in receiving dermal fillers, you should be in good general health without any underlying sensitivities, allergies, or conditions. It is also important that you maintain realistic expectations regarding what this procedure can accomplish. Our team of nurse injectors will determine your candidacy during your personal consultation.
Personal Consultation
The first step to refreshing your appearance is attending a personal consultation. During this meeting, one of our nurse injectors will meet with you individually to converse with you about your medical history, areas of concern, and treatment goals. They will also perform a physical evaluation to assess the condition and quality of your skin, as well as your overall facial anatomy.
Your nurse injector will use this information to determine the best type of filler for your targeted treatment area, as well as the most appropriate amount of filler for your corrections. They may also suggest additional procedures to pair with your treatment, depending on your desired results. By the end of your consultation, you will have a full understanding of what dermal fillers are and how they can help you achieve your ideal appearance.

Preparation

Our team will give you a set of preparation instructions once you schedule your appointment. Preparing for dermal filler injections is fairly straightforward and minimal, but you should still follow your instructions to ensure the best possible results. These may include:
- Avoiding the use of harsh or acidic skincare products, such as chemical peels, exfoliants, and retinoids.
- Refraining from consuming alcohol or nicotine in the days leading up to your procedure.
- Keeping the treatment area protected with sunscreen and moisturizer.
- Arriving at your procedure with clean skin that is free from any makeup or skin care products.
By following each of these instructions, you can ensure your skin is ready to receive fillers. If any questions arise as you prepare, we encourage you to reach out so that our team can support and guide you.
Procedure
When you arrive at our office, your nurse injector will first cleanse and sanitize your skin in a private treatment room. If you are sensitive to pain, your nurse injector may apply a topical anesthetic to your skin, but each of our fillers contains lidocaine to numb the skin during injection.
Your nurse injector will then use a fine needle to carefully inject your filler of choice into the targeted treatment areas. They may administer it to contour the cheeks, address hollowing, augment the lips, redefine the jawline, and more. Once your nurse injector makes each of your desired enhancements, they may gently massage the area to ensure the filler distributes evenly. You will then be free to leave!
Recovery

You can return to your routine immediately after treatment, as dermal fillers require little to no downtime. You may experience some redness, swelling, or tenderness around the injection sites, but these effects will dissipate on their own within several days. You may also need to avoid physical activities or touching the treated areas to support optimal healing and results. Your nurse injector will provide any additional instructions in person.
Results
You will be able to notice immediate improvements in your appearance after your injections, but you will enjoy the full, refined results 1-2 weeks after your appointment. You will be able to enjoy a more contoured, plump, and youthful-looking appearance as visible signs of aging, deflation, and hollowing soften and fade.
The longevity of your results can vary depending on the type of filler you receive, the injection location, and your natural metabolism, but you can expect results that last between one and two years. Anyone who wishes to preserve their results can return for reinjection.
