About BHRT for Perimenopause

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) optimizes hormone levels when natural forms of aging cause significant shifts and breakdown of body cells, tissues, and metabolic processes more slowly. When aging occurs, glands produce fewer hormones, and receptors become less sensitive to chemical signals, which causes estrogen and progesterone to plummet. (1) BHRT hormones contain the same chemical structure as the hormones that your body produces. Some of the bio-identical hormones include estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, which can assist with the different types of imbalances you have and your specific goals. This hormone therapy can assist with perimenopause by replenishing fluctuating estrogen and progesterone levels. They are composed of plant-derived hormones that align with the body’s molecular structure to potentially minimize hot flashes, improve sleep quality, and more.

Benefits

BHRT encourages healthy changes in the body when it is adjusting to symptoms that cause discomfort. These improvements can:

  • Relieve hot flashes
  • Stabilize hormone levels
  • Eliminate chronic fatigue
  • Stabilize anxiety and depression
  • Enhance libido
  • Promote collagen production
  • More graceful aging

Patient experiences may vary, and benefits are not guaranteed.

Candidates

If you are currently experiencing symptoms that are disrupting your quality of life, such as unpleasant hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruptions, and mood swings, you might benefit from BHRT. This treatment is ideal for patients who are 40 or older, who are experiencing disruptive symptoms that affect their daily life, and who are free of any underlying conditions that could affect their ability to undergo treatment. Patients should have realistic expectations for their results and understand that this is a monitored medical treatment that requires customized dosages and ongoing healthcare professional oversight. Personal Consultation

During your personal consultation, one of our expert team members will begin by evaluating your medical history and discussing your symptoms and any medications you are currently taking. You may also undergo a physical exam and complete lab testing so that your specialist can further evaluate your hormone levels and determine how to address your concerns.

They will explain how BHRT works and address any questions or concerns you may have about your treatment. If you are ready to take the next steps in your health journey, to feel and look your best, contact us online or call our California office at (888) 240-6242 or our Utah office at (385) 420-5051.

We only offer initial consultations in San Marcos and Menifee. After your initial consultation, you can go to any location.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Preparing for BHRT

Effectively preparing your body for BHRT might help you achieve maximum benefits from the treatment and alleviate your symptoms more effectively. While instructions may vary, our team may recommend that you:

  • Cease smoking and nicotine use
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Drink lots of water to stay hydrated
  • Reduce your caffeine intake
  • Incorporate daily exercise, such as strength training, into your routine
  • Follow a healthy and nutritious diet

BHRT Procedure

Your first dose may be given in our office. Your specialist will carefully guide you through the administration process. Your dosage frequency may depend on your unique hormone levels, symptoms, and concerns, but administration is typically recommended once or twice a week.

Your specialist will make sure you know how and when to administer your doses in the convenience of your own home.

Your specialist may have you return to the office to evaluate your hormone levels after your treatment begins to provide additional support.

We do not offer pellets for BHRT at this time.

The Adjustment Phase: What Happens After You Start Treatment

Locally, you may notice some tenderness around your injection site, which is a completely normal reaction and will subside after a couple of hours. Although you will not require any downtime, we recommend that you allow your body to rest and take things easily to allow yourself to adjust to the new hormone levels. Mild side effects like constipation, breast tenderness, bloating, mild nausea, and PMS-like mood swings may arise but will resolve within the first few months. We recommend that you drink plenty of water and keep a log of any symptoms, side effects, or improvements you notice after starting your BHRT treatment.

BHRT Results: What to Expect After Consistent Treatment

The timeline of results looks a little different for everybody. After starting your therapy regimen and consistently following your specialist’s instructions, you may begin to notice improvements in your symptoms. The first improvements patients might notice are things like improved sleep, an increase in energy levels, a more balanced mood, and less brain fog.

Some patients have experienced less joint pain, better sleep quality, improved libido, a reduction in vaginal dryness, and more after consistently following a BHRT regimen. (3)

The goal is to achieve results that help you feel more comfortable, strong, and graceful as you navigate perimenopause.
