About Juvéderm
Juvéderm is a family of FDA-approved dermal fillers that can be used to help restore a more youthful-looking appearance. Juvéderm is composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance that can be found throughout your body in areas such as the skin, eyes, connective tissue, and more. (3) Juvéderm offers several different formulations, each varying in thickness, viscosity, or weight to help target specific concerns and areas of the face. Our team can administer this treatment to the cheeks, lips, chin, jawline, temples, and even around the mouth to reshape certain features, or to help address fine lines, wrinkles, creases, and lost volume.
Available Juvéderm Fillers at Before-N-After
At Before-N-After, we offer several different Juvéderm formulas to help you attain the look you desire. Our available products include Juvéderm VOLBELLA® XC, Juvéderm VOLLURE™ XC, and Juvéderm VOLUMA® XC.
Juvéderm VOLBELLA® XC
This formula is designed to help augment the fullness and shape of your lips, as well as minimize the appearance of fine lines around your mouth, also known as “smoker’s lines.” This soft gel formula is created with a unique Vycross technology that provides more flexibility when administered to move fluidly with your facial mannerisms and expressions.
Juvéderm VOLLURE™ XC
Juvéderm Vollure™ XC is ideal for filling in moderate to severe facial lines, wrinkles, and folds to restore a more rejuvenated look. This filler is also formulated using Vycross technology and is highly effective when used to address smile lines, marionette lines, and crow’s feet.
Juvéderm VOLUMA® XC
Juvéderm Voluma® XC is composed of a long-lasting gel formula that can help restore volume to the cheeks, temples, jawline, and chin. This filler is primarily used to address age-related volume loss, especially around the cheeks and mid-face.

Candidates
Candidates for Juvéderm include anyone interested in enhancing or restoring their facial volume. Patients interested in addressing signs of premature aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, or creases, may also make suitable candidates, as well as those wanting to augment the chin or lips. All candidates interested in Juvéderm should be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding what this procedure can accomplish. Candidates should also be above the age of 21, per FDA guidelines.
Patients who are under the age of 21, are pregnant, have a lidocaine allergy, or possess an underlying health condition that inhibits their ability to receive or recover from this procedure may not be eligible for treatment. Individuals who do not qualify are still encouraged to schedule a consultation so that our team may find a suitable alternative for them.
Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation, you will meet with one of our nurse injectors one-on-one. They will ask you a series of questions to learn more about your medical history, aesthetic concerns, and desired treatment outcomes. This consultation is designed to be informative and empowering.
To schedule this consultation and learn more about whether Juvéderm is right for you, please submit our online consultation form. Alternatively, our San Marcos and Menifee locations may be reached at (760) 425-4384.
Preparation
You will be advised to stop taking medications and supplements that contain blood-thinning properties. These may include substances such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and more. Alcohol should also be avoided for several days before and after your treatment. You will need to modify your skincare routine to avoid products that may compromise your skin barrier, such as chemical peels, exfoliants, retinoids, and retinols.
Procedure
On the day of your appointment, you should arrive at our clinic with a clean face free from any makeup or skincare products. Our nurse injector will cleanse and sanitize your skin before administering the filler into targeted areas of your face where you may be experiencing signs of premature aging or volume loss. Each of the Juvéderm formulas offered at Before-N-After is formulated with lidocaine to numb the local area and minimize any potential discomfort. A topical anesthetic may be applied to your skin depending on your sensitivity.
Recovery
As there is little to no downtime associated with Juvéderm, you will be free to return to your routine after your appointment. You may experience certain side effects, such as swelling, bruising, redness, or temporary numbness at the injection sites, but these effects will gradually subside on their own within the following few days. During this time, you will need to avoid touching, massaging, or putting any other pressure on the treated areas. Any additional instructions will be provided by the nurse injector during your personal consultation.
Results
You will be able to notice visible improvements in your appearance immediately after your appointment, but the full results will become more apparent in the following weeks. You will also be able to enjoy a more youthful-looking appearance as visible wrinkles, creases, and fine lines are softened and reduced, and lost volume is restored. Depending on which Juvéderm formula was administered, the results of your treatment can last anywhere between six months and two years. The body will naturally absorb the hyaluronic acid over time. If you wish to preserve the effects of your treatment, you may return in the future for reinjection.
